How to de-Christmas your home ready for 2022
With 2022 fast approaching, if you’re anything like us, you’ll be thinking about leaving the festive chaos behind you and focusing on the brand-new year ahead!
To help you, we’ve got some handy ways to de-Christmas your home, so you can get every room ‘new year... new me’ ready! From organising to cleaning, tidying-up and more, we’ve got you covered!
Clutter no more!
Don’t panic, every home is the same this time of year. After all of the festive fun, your rooms can sometimes end up looking a tiny bit worse for wear!
You know the kind of thing; there are bits of wrapping paper still all over the place, boxes and packaging to be sorted and recycled or binned, laundry and washing-up all the way to your ears, and on top of all that - the fridge is empty!
It’s definitely time to de-Christmas and your first step is getting rid of the clutter. You’ll need to think about where to put all those lovely new presents, as well as storing the Christmas decorations, ready for next year.
Here’s a handy list of what you’ll need to get presents and decorations stored away nicely:
Make sure all of your decorations and the Christmas tree is stored in a dry, safe place so they will keep in good condition. Pop your tree back in its box and put baubles and decorations in a lidded tub or box.
Top tip: if it hasn’t been ripped to shreds by the kids, save wrapping paper and use it next year!
The post-Christmas clean up
Cleaning the house after Christmas can feel like quite the task after all of the chaos that came with the big day... but, we promise, you’ll feel so much better when it’s done!
After those lovely days lazing around in your PJ’s feasting on choccies, picking on left-overs, binge-watching TV and playing games with the family, it’s time to crack on and get the house sparkling clean ready for the new year.
We've got everything you need to get the house clean from top to bottom:
Assuming the fridge is now FINALLY empty of all the yummy Christmas food, we think now is a great time to give it a deep clean and if you’re feeling super energetic you could even do the oven too!
Have some fun with it!
The de-Christmas clean-up can seem daunting, but why not have a bit of fun with it! We think if you treat it like an enjoyable task and think of the positives, like burning calories and the satisfaction of a lovely clean house, then it doesn’t need to be a drag.
So, get your favourite music on, let some fresh air in and stop for a quick cuppa in-between your work. You could even get the whole family involved and the de-Christmas clean-up will be done in no time at all.
