Evergreen shrubs have lush green foliage all year round, often with woody stalks and flowers in season. Look for shrubs such as fatsia japonica, camellia, or good old bamboo for some year-round colour. Word to the wise – you may prefer planting your bamboo in pots, as it has a tendency to take over and is very difficult to remove!
