How to grow onions: Plant the onion sets from February until April, 3cm deep and 12cm apart and water well. Weed regularly and water during particularly dry spells. Harvest from August to September, when the leaves begin to turn yellow. Lift with a fork, remove the leaves and allow to dry for a couple of days in the sun.
