Johnsons’ Thyme Seeds produce hardy shrub, which yields leaves with delicious flavour. The leaves are suitable for all types of robust meat and vegetable dishes. They create great flavours for soup, stews, fish and egg dishes. Grow this in pots or flower beds for making thymes leave your home-grown. Indoor Sowing: February-May, in trays of seed compost. Sow thinly, and cover lightly with fine compost. Firm gently. Keep at 15-20°C and keep moist. Seedlings appear in 21-35 days. When large enough, transplant 5cm apart in further trays. Acclimatise to the outside conditions. Stand outside for a few days (avoid frosts). Transplant to final position spacing 25cm apart, in a warm sunny position in well-drained soil. Harvest March to November, cloche protection from autumn gives longer cropping. If they are to be dried, gather them just before the flowers begin to open.
