Grow your own kitchen herbs with the Johnsons Sweet Genovese Basil Herb Seeds. Scientifically named Ocimum basilicum, sweet basil leaves are renowned for their use in Italian dishes and also have many health benefits. Considered by many as the classic basil, with large leaves and a mild aniseed flavour popular for Mediterranean salads, soups and tomato dishes. Indoor sowing from March to May, or all year round for pots indoors. In pots or trays of moist compost. Sow thinly, and cover lightly with compost. Keep at 15-20°C and keep moist. Seedlings appear in 7-14 days. Thin plants to further pots or trays if necessary. To grow outdoors, stand outside for a few days in late May (avoid frosts). Transplant 15cm apart in final position. To grow indoors, transplant to 15cm pots of compost, and place them in a light airy location. Harvest Outdoor crops from June to October, and indoor crops all year round. Pick as required. Outdoor sowing from May to June, in the growing position. Sow thinly, and cover lightly with fine soil. When large enough, thin to 15cm apart, for a continuous supply make sowings at three weekly intervals. Pick the leaves from June to November. Should these seeds fail we will be happy to replace them. This does not affect your statutory rights.
