- High-yielding variety with large, red raspberries
- Easy to grow, perfect for fresh or frozen berries
- Plant in rows, train to wires for great yields
A high yielding variety that produces tasty, succulent crops in midsummer. Its deep red berries hold well without spoiling and are brilliant eaten fresh, and can be frozen. Plant in rows 38cm 15in apart, leaving 1.8m 6ft between. Choose a well drained, sunny or semi shaded spot, dig in plenty of well rotted compost or manure in the autumn. Create a frame work of posts and wires for easy training. Water summer fruiting raspberries well for the first year until plants are fully established. Loosely tie the stems into their support wires as they grow. When berries begin to develop, place a net over the plants to protect the crop from birds. In autumn, prune the canes which have fruited over summer to ground level. Canes which have not fruited should be tied into their supports. Aim to have 6 to 8 fruiting canes per plant. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes in spring. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer.
