Product Information

  • Perfect for autumn harvest
  • Ideal for small gardens, patios, and containers
  • Reliable, heavy crops of pears every autumn
Pear ‘Conference’ is the best known and most loved of all the pear varieties for growing in the UK. Their exceptionally juicy texture and sweet flavour make them a wonderful fruit for snacking, plus their resilience, resistance and reliability make them very rewarding and easy to grow. This low-maintenance miniature tree will thrive in most sunny locations, whether planted in a patio container or within a mixed border where it will reward you with season-long ornamental interest along with an impressive crop of tasty pears during autumn each year! Plant patio fruit trees in containers holding at least 30 litres of good quality compost such as John Innes No.3. Alternatively plant them in any well-drained soil in a sheltered sunny position. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level, firm them into the ground and water well. Feed and water containerised plants regularly. Prune only the tips of the main branches by one-third in winter. Some sub-branches can be pruned out when necessary at the union where they join the main branch, to allow new sub-branches to take their place. In order to produce the best quality, largest fruits, the apples and pears should be thinned in July leaving two fruits remaining per cluster. Position: Full Sun Height: Up to 1.2m when fully established Spread: Up to 1.2m when fully established. Supplied as 1 x Pyrus Pear ‘Conference’ mini fruit tree in a 9cm pot.
