Product Information

  • Produces dessert pear with sweet, firm flesh
  • Thrives in full sun
  • Perfect for both small and large gardens
The Conference pear is renowned for its exceptional taste and versatility, making it a must-have for any fruit garden. This classic dessert pear features long, bell-shaped fruits with firm flesh that can be enjoyed fresh or cooked. The smooth, juicy flavour intensifies as the fruit ripens, offering a delightful eating experience. Harvested from October to November, these pears store well until January, ensuring you can enjoy their exquisite taste throughout the winter months. For optimal flavour, pick slightly under-ripe, store in a cool place, and allow to ripen indoors. Ideal for both large and small gardens, Conference pears grow well on various rootstocks. The Quince C, Eline, and Adams rootstocks produce dwarf trees that reach a mature height of 2.5-3m, making them perfect for compact spaces. The Quince A rootstock supports semi-vigorous trees, growing up to 4m. For the best results, plant these trees in well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered spot. Though partially self-fertile, planting with another pear variety or ensuring a nearby pollinator will enhance fruit production. How to Grow Instructions: Light: Full sun. Temperature: Prefers temperate climates. Watering: Water well, especially in dry periods. Feeding: Incorporate well-rotted manure or compost before planting; feed regularly. Humidity: Thrives in well-drained soil; avoid waterlogging. Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Image may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months). Decorative pots are not supplied.
