Product Information

  • Disease-resistant white grape vine
  • Sweet Muscat aroma, great flavour
  • Ideal for fresh eating or wine
Grape ‘Phoenix’ is an outstanding white grape hybrid that has been chosen specifically for its disease resistance and its outstanding quality fruits. Good sized grapes are produced on the vine in tightly packed clusters. When fully ripe, the fruit has a soft Muscat aroma alongside a superb flavour. Bred in Germany, the large leaves and excellent autumn colour make this grape vine equally valuable as an ornamental garden feature trained over a pergola. The grapes of ‘Phoenix’ are ideal for eating fresh from the vine or alternatively for wine-making. Grape vines should be watered during dry periods only as over watering can affect the quality of the fruit. A mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost should be added to the base of the vines in spring to ensure that they maintain moisture at their roots over the summer months. Grape vines should be pruned in winter and trained in summer. For the best quality fruits, do not allow them to carry a crop of grapes until at least their third summer. When choosing a location for your grape vines, ensure a sunny position in any well-drained soil; a south facing wall is ideal. Grape vines require sturdy support for their twining stems. Prior to planting, prepare a frame of wires stretching horizontally between two solid 1.8m (6ft) posts or attached to a warm wall. Position: full sun Height of cordon trained vine: 1.8m (6ft)Spread of cordon trained vine: 1.5m (5ft)Height of untrained vine: 8m (26ft)Supplied as 1 x 3 litre pot Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity.
