Thompson and Morgan Fig Brunswick Bush Plant Pot 2.5 to 3L

Enjoy fresh produce to your garden with this Thompson and Morgan Fig Brunswick Bush Plant Pot 2.5 to 3L. An attractive self-fertile tree with handsome foliage, producing a heavy crop of medium-sized pear-shaped figs. The green-skinned fruits have a delicious, sweet flavour and yellow and red flesh. Fruits develop in spring and ripen from August to September. A second crop often develops in late summer and if protected, these fruits will ripen during the following summer. Fig Brunswick is particularly well suited to the UK climate being particularly hardy and more tolerant of colder, wetter growing conditions than many other varieties. Grow fig trees in a sheltered, sunny position. A warm, south-facing site against a wall is ideal. Figs prefer a moisture-retentive, fertile, well-drained soil that is slightly alkaline. Prior to planting fig trees, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the planting hole. Figs have a vigorous growth habit but can be restricted by planting in a container, before submerging the whole thing into the ground. When planting in large patio containers, use a well-drained compost such as John Innes No.3. When growing fig trees in containers they should be repotted every two years. If figs are to be wall-trained, install support wires prior to planting. Water fig trees regularly, particularly during hot dry periods. Figs will not require much feeding except for a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant in spring. Position is full sun. Height is up to 3m when fully established.
