Product Information

  • Fragrant white blooms year-round
  • Zesty, seedless limes in abundance
  • Perfect for patios and conservatories
The Thompson and Morgan Tahiti Lime is a stunning addition to any patio and produces bright green, zesty fruits all year round. Set against a backdrop of glossy dark foliage, delicate clusters of white flowers release a delightful fragrance. The fruits may take up to a year to ripen, but the wait is worth it; these lovely seedless limes are abundant and will eventually turn yellow if left on the tree. Once harvested, limes can be stored for up to two weeks. Thompson and Morgan Tahiti Lime trees can endure brief periods of cold below 0°C, but they thrive best when grown in large containers, which can be moved indoors to a bright, frost-free location from autumn to spring. These trees are self-fertile, meaning they do not require a pollination partner. They are propagated onto ‘PS’ rootstock and are typically sold as large specimen bushes (often already bearing fruit) in 5-litre pots. For optimal growth, plant citrus trees in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and neutral, soil-based compost, such as John Innes No.3. When repotting, maintain the plant at its original soil level and firm it well into the new container. Water thoroughly and position the tree in a frost-free area with full sun exposure. From May to October, it’s safe to place citrus trees outside. During the summer, water generously and mist the leaves daily to boost humidity and deter pests. Feed the plant with a citrus fertilizer every two weeks. When October arrives, move the tree indoors to a bright, frost-free spot (ideally between 4-12°C) away from cold drafts and radiators. In winter, reduce watering but ensure the plant does not completely dry out, as either too much or too little water can cause the fruits to drop. Ideal for patios, kitchen gardens, greenhouses, conservatories, scented gardens, exotic gardens, and as a specimen plant, the Tahiti Lime is a versatile choice for any gardening enthusiast.
