Product Information

  • Bumper harvest from July to September
  • Bluecrop: Mid-season, rich-flavoured fruit
  • Elliot: Early-season, firm, sweet fruit.
Enjoy harvesting your home-grown blueberries during the summer months with this collection of three excellent varieties, perfect for growing in acidic borders or ericaceous patio containers. These plants produce a bountiful harvest from July to late September, offering low-maintenance care while providing delicious fruit throughout the summer. The collection includes three popular varieties, each known for its reliable garden performance and exceptional flavour: Blueberry ‘Bluecrop’ – A mid-season variety that yields heavy crops of rich-flavoured fruit in August. Blueberry ‘Duke’ – A late-season variety that produces sweet-tasting fruit in August and September. Blueberry ‘Elliot’ – An early-season variety that crops as early as July, featuring firm and sweet fruits. Blueberries thrive in well-drained, acidic soil and should be positioned in sunny or semi-shaded areas. In regions without naturally occurring acidic soil, you can grow blueberry plants in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3. It is best to water blueberries with rainwater, as the lime in tap water can reduce soil acidity over time. These plants will start to produce fruit by their third year. As the fruit begins to develop, cover the plants with netting to protect the berries from birds. Once the plants reach their third year, prune out the oldest stems every autumn to promote new growth and maintain a healthy framework for the plant.
