- Metallic-blue thistle blooms shimmer on sturdy steely stems
- Attracts bees and butterflies to gardens
- Dried flowerheads provide winter interest
Catch the light with vibrant metallic-blue blooms as Thompson and Morgan Eryngium and Zabelii Big Blue Plant Pot 9cm 2 Pack brings a bold architectural flair to your summer borders and gravel gardens. Rising from deeply divided grey-green foliage, steely blue stems support thistle-like flowers with a shimmering hue that glows in evening light, creating a striking focal point. Dried flowerheads linger into winter, adding structure and interest, especially when frosted, while attracting bees and butterflies throughout the season. This hardy perennial thrives in dry, sunny spots with free-draining soil, making it a reliable choice for Mediterranean-style planting schemes. How to Grow: Plant in light, well-drained soil in full sun. Avoid wet soils, particularly in winter, as this can cause crown rot. If your garden has heavy clay, improve drainage by adding coarse grit before planting. Water regularly during the first season to help plants establish. Leave faded flower heads in place through winter and only lift plants when absolutely necessary, as they can be slow to re-establish. Images shown are for guidance only and show the expected results of plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Images may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonality changes, for example, deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months. Decorative pots are not supplied.
