Product Information

  • Produces a hard-wearing and attractive lawn
  • Fine-leaved perennial ryegrass and red fescue
  • Quick to establish and requires less mowing
Our Multi-Purpose Lawn Seed with Ryegrass produces a hard-wearing lawn with an attractive appearance. The fine-leaved perennial ryegrass and red fescue are quite quick to establish and don't require mowing too frequently. Ideal to sow between March to October, this 500g pack will provide up to 20 square metres of coverage. Preparation: You can sow this seed from March to early October. First clear the area of weeds, stones and rubbish. Then dig it over to a depth of 15-23cm. Next, rake and roll the soil so you have a firm-level seed bed with a fine crumb texture. Preferably check it's still level after a week and destroy any weeds. Rake in a general fertiliser 4-5 days before sowing the seed. Divide up the area into square metres. Sowing: Shake up the carton to mix the seed. Sow at 35gm of seed per sq m for new lawns and 25gm per sq m for oversowing, half from left to right and the other half from top to bottom. It should be distributed as shown above. After sowing lightly rake the seed into the soil and water liberally with a fine spray. The grass will start to grow in 7-10 days depending on the weather. Aftercare: If dry weather follows sowing, keep well-watered with a fine spray. Persistent weeds can be carefully removed by hand or treated with a selective weedkiller three months after sowing the lawn. You can mow the grass once it's 5-8cm high, lightly trim at first then gradually lower the blades to the ideal cutting height of 2.5cm. Mow as required but try not to remove more than one-third, of the growth. Keep your new lawn looking its best using the appropriate fertiliser.
