While the fronds may die back in winter, the Tree Fern is hardy down to -5 degrees Celsius. To protect it during winter, it is recommended to cover the crown with a layer of straw or fleece. Upon arrival, the tree fern should be planted in a large pot or directly in the garden. Its slow growth is normal, as it may take up to two years for the plant to fully root. The fern tree pot is supplied as a young, established plant in a 17cm pot, ready to be potted on or planted out.
