Verbena binaries ‘Lollipop’ is just like the traditional tall variety, showing off tight clusters of vivid purple flowers on elegant, slender stems throughout summer, only much shorter. Only reaching half the height of the original variety, it’s perfect for growing in pots to display on the patio, and just as good planted in close groups in the border where its airy habit will bring texture and softness to any planting scheme. If you enjoy the sight of butterflies fluttering around the garden, this fabulous, nectar-rich plant certainly comes up trumps, attracting all kinds of butterflies, bees and other pollinating insects. It’s incredibly easy to grow and also drought tolerant, which makes it all the more suitable for container growing. Verbena binaries ‘Lollipop’ will put on a stunning show with the very minimum of fuss, once established, only requiring occasional watering and without the need for staking. As this verbena is a fully hardy perennial, you can look forward to a repeat summer display year after year. Plant outdoors in a sheltered position in any well-drained soil in full sun, watering in thoroughly after planting. Feed and water plants regularly until they are fully established. Verbena flowers do not require deadheading. In autumn, apply a dry mulch of bark chips or straw to protect the crown of the plant throughout the winter months. Cut back the old stems when new shoots emerge at the base of the plant in spring. Position: Full Sun Height: Up to 60cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 60cm when fully established.
