Product Information

  • Pack contains 100 seeds
  • Roots feature purple tops with succulent white flesh
  • Leaves are hairless and edible
Bring vibrant charm to your garden with the Thompson and Morgan Turnip Sweetbell SC9-303 F1 Hybrid Seeds. It surprises with vibrant purple-topped roots and deliciously succulent white flesh that's perfect cooked or grated in salads, plus its hairless leaves are edible, so you'll enjoy a true ‘eat it all’ vegetable in your garden. Growing best in rich, well-manured soil but thriving in fertile composted beds, these seeds promise a quick harvest if kept well watered and picked before they get too large for flavour. Sow in succession from spring to mid-summer, thin seedlings for optimum results and extend the season with cloches for fresh greens. Each packet contains 100 seeds and comes with simple growing instructions so you'll easily cultivate a crop that's both appealing and versatile. Turnips grow best on rich, well-manured soil, but will grow on ordinary fertile soil to which has been added plenty of well-rotted compost. Sow seeds in succession from spring to mid-summer, one centimetre deep in drills 30cm apart. Turnips should be grown quickly and kept well watered. Harvest them before they get too large for the best flavour. For greens, follow the above instructions, but don't thin out. The season can be extended by sowing under cloches in early spring and again in late summer. Thin out the seedlings to 10-15cm apart. Product Specifications: Position in: full sun. Height: Up to 25cm. Spread: Up to 25cm. Delivered with growing and care instructions. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Image may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
