Product Information

  • Produces double white flowers with sweet fragrance
  • Grows and spreads up to 7m when fully established
  • Thrives in full sun or semi shade
Syringa double lilac Madame Lemonie is an elegant trouble trouble-free variety with nectar-rich, fragrant flowers that are loved by butterflies. With strong spreading branches that hold double white flowers with heart-shaped foliage. A great specimen shrub for a cottage garden that requires little maintenance. Height and Spread: 7m. Culinary note: Adding the fragrant flowers to cream cheese or even yoghurt for a hint of lemon flavour. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only. Pot up lilac plants and grow them on until large enough to plant out in their final positions. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of seven to ten days. If received in the autumn, overwinter Syringa plants in a sheltered position, either in a cold frame, cool greenhouse or porch, ready for planting out in spring. Transplant lilac plants into rich, fertile, well-drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Prune lilac bushes in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping the remaining stems. After pruning, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub. Product Specifications: Position in: Sun or Semi Shade. Height up to: 700cm. Spread up to: 700cm. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Image may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
