Magnolia Red Lucky produces a glorious spring display of pale pink, goblet shaped blooms, each blushed with a deep rose on the outer petals. The flowers appear on naked branches, before the handsome green deciduous shrub foliage has emerged. They also help to create stunning focal points during the spring and late summer months due to their twice flowering nature. This exceptional deciduous magnolia requires little maintenance, making it ideal for growing in a large container on the patio or as part of a decorative border display. Magnolias should be planted in a sunny or semi-shaded position with protection from cold winds and hard spring frosts. They prefer a rich, moist, well drained acid to neutral soil and you should incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to improve the soil prior to planting. Magnolia plants will establish quicker when their roots are shaded, additional mulch can be added around the base of the plant. Magnolias will require to be watered during growing season until established but will require little to no pruning.
