- Sweet stems perfect raw or cooked
- Produces 3-4 harvests per plant
- Grows well in full sun or semi-shade
High in nutritional value, this tasty Calabrese fetches a high price in the supermarkets and now you can grow your own broccoli to harvest fresh from the garden. Broccoli 'Sibsey' is a fabulous, sweet stem broccoli, which is similar in appearance to Cima di rapa (Wild Broccoli). The tender stems are so sweet that you can even eat them raw! Or try them steamed or lightly boiled to maintain the healthy vitamins within. Grow this variety in full sun where the sunlight gives flavour to the developing shoots. This productive Broccoli will produce 3 to 4 harvests per plant. When growing sprouting broccoli, choose a sheltered position in firm, rich fertile, well-drained soil in full sun or semi shade. Prepare the soil in early spring by adding plenty of well-rotted farmyard manure to the soil to improve its structure and fertility. Plant purple sprouting broccoli deeply for stability at 60cm (24 inch) apart, and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Water the plants thoroughly after planting. Position: Full Sun. Height: Up to 90cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 60cm when fully established. Harvest period – June to November.
