- Produces yellow catkins during early spring
- Grows and spreads up to 250cm when fully established
- Features eye-catching weeping branches
Yellow and grey catkins appearing on naked weeping branches are a sure sign that spring has arrived in your garden when this Thompson and Morgan Salix caprea Kilmarnock Willow is in your collection. Thompson and Morgan Salix caprea Kilmarnock is a deciduous small tree that is ideal as an architectural specimen wherever you plant it. The weeping form is densely covered in foliage all during the summer and into the autumn, and can be lightly trimmed to keep it in shape or size, should you so wish. Sometimes, also clipped back to be grown as a standard too, this hardy plant is definitely worth a look for adding shape and interest to your outside space. Grow salix in a sunny or partially shaded position, in any well-drained soil. To achieve the most colourful foliage, trim back all side branches by a third during July. You can trim Salix Hakuro-Nishiki plants throughout the year to keep them tidy, with fresh, variegated growth. Simply prune back branch tips by about 15cm. Ideal For: Patio, Specimen. Plant Hardiness: Hardy. Position In: Full Sun Height: Up to 250cm. Spread: Up to 250cm.
