Thompson & Morgan Red Camellia Japonica Dr King Plant Pot 9cm

Doctor King Red' is a cottage garden favourite and you can certainly understand why. This dreamy camellia requires minimal maintenance, has a bushy habit and has a great structure of luscious evergreen foliage. The forest green foliage will perfectly contrast with exquisite masses of red-pink large petalled blooms that are complemented by a spiked yellow centre. Camellia plants require a moist, well-drained, acid soil in a sheltered, shaded position. In areas where acid soil does not naturally occur, grow Camellia plants in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3 and position in dappled shade. Water regularly until plants are fully established. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Feed Camellias occasionally with fertiliser for acid-loving plants. Protect plants from cold winter winds and strong early morning sunlight as this may cause the buds to drop in early spring.
