- Frilly pink blooms from March to May
- Low maintenance, hardy and simply beautiful
- Astonishing displays March through to May
‘Bonomiana’ is an exciting and elegant variety of camellia, known for its heartwarming displays of frilly, pink-streaked blooms that beautifully contrast with fresh green foliage. These remarkable flowers can be enjoyed from March until the end of May, and you'll also appreciate the evergreen leaves after the blooming season. This low-maintenance, hardy shrub would make a fantastic addition to any garden. Camellias thrive in moist, well-drained, acidic soil and prefer a sheltered, shaded position. If you live in an area where acidic soil is not naturally present, you can grow camellias in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No.3, placing them in dappled shade. Be sure to water the plants regularly until they are fully established. When possible, use rainwater, as the lime found in tap water can gradually reduce the soil's acidity. Additionally, feed camellias occasionally with fertilizer designed for acid-loving plants. To protect your camellias, shield them from cold winter winds and strong early morning sunlight, as these conditions may cause the buds to drop in early spring. Please note that the images provided are for guidance only and represent the expected results from mature plants. Variations can occur due to different growing conditions, and images may change seasonally (for example, deciduous plants lose their leaves in colder months).
