- Potted garden plant
Every new plant has to fight for its place in the garden, and Thompson and Morgan Philadelphus ‘Innocence’ holds its corner with showy yellow-speckled foliage, scented summer blossom and an elegant arching habit. A contained, upright shrub with a tidy growth habit, this robust, hardy shrub has everything going for it, thriving in even the poorest of soils, in situations from full sun to shade. If you’re struggling to choose shrubs for the garden, make sure to put Thompson and Morgan Philadelphus ‘Innocence’ at the top of your planting list. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Grow Thompson and Morgan Philadelphus ‘Innocence’ plants in a sunny or semi-shaded position, in any well-drained soil. Plant mock orange plants at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water the well to settle the soil. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Philadelphus requires little pruning. After flowering, cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level. Ideal for cottage gardens, scented gardens, wildlife gardens, low maintenance gardens, specimen plant hardiness and hardy position in sun or semi-shade. Height is up to 250cm. Spread up to 250cm.
