- Tropical look with arching bromeliad leaves
- Produces exotic fruit and bright red bracts
- Air-purifying, thrives in warm sunny spots
Ananas comosus is truly a wonderful tropical house plant. Firstly, the bromeliad-like foliage grows in a wide rosette pattern with an attractive arching habit that makes it a fantastic architectural plant. This fruiting house plant also provides some colour through certain parts of the year with purple foliage and bright red bracts. Because this evergreen plant is technically a bromeliad, it is also capable of providing air-purifying qualities and removing harmful toxins from your home. All of this, and we haven’t even mentioned the exotic fruit it produces! Pineapple plants require a warm and sunny position, well away from cold draughts, with a minimum temperature of 15 °C (59°F). These house plants are ideal for a bright windowsill, conservatory or heated greenhouse. If repotting becomes necessary, use a well-drained, neutral or slightly acid compost. Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant, then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you. Please note that the plant may not arrive bearing fruit due to seasonality.
