Product Information

  • Ornamental green banana plant
  • Great for adding an exotic feel the garden
  • Ideal for patio pots and containers
The Musa Basjoo Japanese Banana is a delicate perennial palm with large paddle-shaped leaves, arching away from the main trunk, which produces masses of yellow flower spikes bearing large brown bracts. As the name implies, the plant produces mini green banana fruits, although not edible, they are an attractive and interesting feature which is bound to create a lot of attention in your garden. Musa Basjoo likes to be planted outdoors in frost-free conditions, in moist, well-drained soil, in direct sun or partial shade. To get the best out of your plant, make sure the rootstock is planted deep below ground, so it is well protected. Ideally, grow under glass or a polytunnel in loam-based compost. Product Specifications: Position: FULL SUN OR SEMI-SHADE Height: Up to 5 metres when fully established Spread: Up to 4 metres when fully established. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months.
