Following on from the golden flowers, you will see blue-black berries appear. Neat and compact, this is a perfect groundcover plant. Grow Mahonia plants in any rich, fertile, well-drained soil in full shade. Although Mahonia plants are hardy, they will appreciate a sheltered position away from cold, drying winds.
