- Late blooms with pink and white fragrance
- Autumn berries attract garden birds
- Climbs walls, fences, or obelisks with ease
Thompson & Morgan Honeysuckle ‘Serotina’ flowers later than most varieties and displays whorls of tubular pink and white blooms, adorning the twining stems of this traditional cottage garden climber. ‘Serotina’ will fragrance the air with is distinctive perfume well into autumn, before continuing its display with small, glassy red berries that are loved by birds. A fabulous climber, Thompson & Morgan Honeysuckle ‘Serotina’ creates an informal display on walls and fences, or trained over a free-standing obelisk. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant Thompson & Morgan Honeysuckle ‘Serotina’ against a suitable, sturdy support such as trellis or strong wires attached to walls and pergolas, in fertile, moist, free-draining soil. Poor soil conditions can be improved by incorporating plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost. When growing honeysuckle in patio containers, use a soil based compost. Feed and water Thompson & Morgan Honeysuckle ‘Serotina’ regularly throughout the growing season until they are fully established. Check young shoot tips regularly as honeysuckle is susceptible to aphid damage, particularly when grown in full sun. Prune immediately after flowering by firstly removing the oldest stems, then reducing the remaining stems to restrict their vigorous growth to the available space. In spring, apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant.
