Start your journey to a flourishing garden with the Thompson and Morgan Lettuce Saxo Seeds. Growing lettuce from seed is both rewarding and straightforward. The ‘Saxo’ variety is a crisp, tasty salad-bowl type with compact, dense hearts and glossy, deep red crinkled leaves, adding a vibrant touch to salads and sandwiches. This reliable variety is easy to grow and provides a fresh, nutritious harvest from spring through late autumn. It shows excellent resistance to downy mildew and lettuce leaf aphid and can withstand heat stress. Direct sow lettuce seeds outdoors from March to July into well-prepared, fertile, and moist soil in full sun or semi-shade. Sow seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm in rows spaced 30cm apart in soil that has been raked to a fine texture. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them to 30cm apart and cover with protective netting or fleece to prevent birds and insects from reaching them.
