Product Information

  • Pack contains 30 seeds
  • Improved variety offers intensely curled dark green leaves
  • Suitable for salads or mature winter veg with long harvest period
Bring a burst of deep green, intensely curled leaves to any kitchen garden with the Thompson and Morgan Kale Reflex F1 Hybrid Seeds, offering both visual appeal and delicious nutrition, whether picked young for salads or left to mature as a hearty winter vegetable. You'll find sowing and aftercare straightforward, with reliable results in firm, fertile soil and a long harvest period to keep your plates fresh through the seasons. With just one packet containing 30 seeds, it's easy to start growing this improved, frost-resistant curly kale at home. For mature plants, sow Kale seed from March to June. Direct sow outdoors into a well-prepared seedbed for transplanting to their final positions later on. Sow at a depth of one centimetre and a distance of 23cm between rows. Kale plants can be transplanted to their final positions approximately five weeks from sowing. Grow kale in firm, rich, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or semi shade. Prepare the soil in early spring by adding plenty of well-rotted farmyard manure to the soil to improve its structure and fertility. Apply lime to acid soils to reduce the acidity and lessen the risk of clubroot. When transplanting kale, plant it slightly deeper in the ground than it was in the seedbed. Plant kale at a distance of 60cm apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Water the plants thoroughly after planting. Product Specifications: Position: Full sun, sun or semi shade. Height: Up to 90cm. Spread: Up to 60cm. Ease of Sowing: Easy for all. Ease of aftercare: Easy for all. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. An image may be included to illustrate the supply, but it can vary with seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
