Product Information

  • Pack contains 20 seeds
  • Leaves develop crisp texture and contrasting white centres
  • Winter hardy variety withstands frost for extended harvests
Bring a burst of fresh, vitamin-rich leaves to your garden right through the colder months with the Thompson and Morgan Kale Emerald Ice Seeds. It offers ruffled foliage that’s not only crisp and sweet but also develops a striking white centre as it matures. Enjoy harvesting from October to April, making it a reliable choice when other garden produce is scarce, and delight in its exceptional eating quality that stands out among kales. With frost resistance and excellent winter hardiness, you’ll find it easy to grow in sun or semi-shade, and even the leaf stalks offer a surprising candy-like flavour for your kitchen creations. Sow Kale seed from March to June. Direct sow outdoors into a well-prepared seedbed for transplanting to their final positions later on. Sow at a depth of one centimetre and a distance of 23cm between rows. Kale plants can be transplanted to their final positions approximately five weeks from sowing. Grow kale in firm, rich, fertile, well-drained soil in sun or semi shade. Prepare the soil in early spring by adding plenty of well-rotted farmyard manure to the soil to improve its structure and fertility. Apply lime to acid soils to reduce the acidity and lessen the risk of clubroot. When transplanting kale, plant it slightly deeper in the ground than it was in the seedbed. Product specifications: Position: Full Sun. Height: Up to 90cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 60cm when fully established. Delivered with growing and care instructions. Harvest period – October to April. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. An image may be included to illustrate the supply, but it can vary with seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
