When growing jasmine in containers, choose a loam based compost such as John Innes No. 2. In borders, plant jasmine in any moist, well drained soil in sun or semi-shade. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate support such as trellis or wires attached to walls and fences. Feed and water jasmine plants regularly throughout the growing season. After flowering, prune out the oldest stems, and reduce the remaining stems to restrict their vigorous growth to the available space.
