Hydrangea French Bolero boasts six times more flowers than the average hydrangea! This new variety bears flowers along the length of each stem, which burst from strong lateral buds, creating the most free-flowering display you’ve ever seen! French Bolero is a modern hybrid of two species, H. scandens and H. macrophllya. and like its second parent, its blooms are large and change colour with the acidity of the soil. In alkaline soils, blooms are pink, whilst acid soil produces shades of purple and blue. Hydrangea French Bolero has a compact, spreading habit and is perfect for lightly shaded borders. It makes an elegant patio plant, too. Height and spread: 100cm. Hydrangeas prefer a position in shade or semi-shade, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.
