  • Heart-shaped, multi-coloured foliage
  • Moisture and drought tolerant groundcover
  • White summer flowers and citrus-scented leaves
Houttuynia Cordata Chameleon is a robust and versatile perennial, moisture and drought tolerant this variety can thrive in most positions in the garden from sun to dappled shade. This variety is unique as it has hearts shaped leaves with splashes of green, gold and red. When crushed, the foliage emits a pungent orange fragrance. In Mid-summer the spreading stems are covered in pure white flowers. Making a good ground cover through borders or around boggy pond margins Houtuynia grows to Height: 30cm (12”). Spread: 100cm (39”). Planting depth: Zone1 & 2 to 10cm (4”) below water level. Culinary note: The leaves have an orange like smell and make a marvellous flavouring in salads. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only. This hardy perennial is both moisture and drought tolerant, and thrives in almost any position from sun to dappled shade. Plant Houttuynia in any garden soil, or in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a depth of 10cm (4") below water level. In favourable conditions, Houttuynia will spread freely, but can be easily contained if planted in containers. Feed and water Houttuynia plants regularly until fully established. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Houttuynia in Spring to maintain plant vigour.
