- Dense clumps of heart-shaped foliage
- Hardy perennial thrives in dry soil or pond margins
- Aromatic leaves offer unique orange scent for culinary use
Brighten garden ponds and borders with the striking heart-shaped foliage of houttuynia cordata ‘Boo Boo’, a hardy perennial that flourishes in both dry soil and boggy pond margins. Lush green leaves edged in yellow and red create dense clumps, while elegant white flower spikes appear from late spring, adding texture and colour. As autumn arrives, the aromatic leaves shift to fiery orange and red, ensuring a bold display through the seasons. Adaptable and low-maintenance, this plant thrives in sun or shade and spreads steadily for natural ground cover, making it ideal for borders, bog gardens or shallow water edges. Culinary lovers can enjoy its orange-scented leaves fresh in salads for a unique flavour twist.
