The spider plant is known for being one of the easiest houseplants to grow, and it looks great in a hanging basket or on a shelf where foliage can hang. The monster plant possesses giant dark green leaves containing large holes and slits, giving it the nickname of the Swiss cheese plant. The Indian rubber plant is known to be extremely reliable and copes remarkably well in shaded positions. Spider plants enjoy a brightly lit spot away from direct sunlight. Avoid the full glare of the sun, as this may bleach or scorch the foliage. A brightly lit room is best suited for the monster plant; well away from direct sunlight is ideal, however, it can cope with less light, which will slow its growth. With the Indian rubber plant, avoid positions which receive sudden temperature drops, as this may cause the plant to drop its leaves.
