Product Information

  • Provides with strong and spicy roots year after year
  • Easy to grow with little care needed
  • Best grown in pots to control spread
There’s nothing like growing your own Horseradish to go alongside your Sunday roast! These roots will reward you with vigorous growth and increasing yields year after year, so you will always have a supply! Horseradish establishes quickly and are easy to grow with very little aftercare required. Best grown in a pot or container due to their possibly invasive nature. Grow horseradish in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Plant horseradish roots (thongs) in spring or autumn at a depth of 30cm (12") and at a 45° angle. Cover with soil and water well after planting. Alternatively grow horseradish in large containers to restrict its vigorous growth. Use a good quality compost such as John Innes No. 2 and position in full sun. Horseradish requires little attention but will appreciate watering during particularly dry periods. Harvest the roots in autumn by lifting the entire root with a garden fork. Horseradish may be stored in a paper bag in the fridge for up to a week after harvesting. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes. Product Specifications: Position: Full sun Height: Up to 60cm (23.6in) Spread: Up to 45cm (17.7in) Harvest: September - December Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
