Product Information

  • Compact dwarf habit reaches up to 30cm in height
  • Ideal for windowsills, containers, and kitchen gardens in full sun
  • Pack contains approximately 200 seeds
Transform your garden with the Thompson and Morgan Herb Dill Bouquet Seeds. It is a remarkable dwarf version of this versatile herb, featuring delicate, fern-like foliage that is appealingly compact, making it perfect for cultivation on a windowsill. This hardy herb thrives in the climate and is simple to grow, making it an excellent choice for kitchen gardens or patio containers. For direct sowing, dill seeds can be planted outdoors from March to July into well-prepared soil in full sun. Sow seeds thinly in drills 1cm (0.5 inches) deep and spaced 15cm (6 inches) apart, then thin seedlings to a final spacing of 30cm (12 inches). To achieve a continuous harvest, make regular sowings. Dill can be sown indoors as well, at a temperature of 20°C (68°F) on the surface of damp, free-draining seed compost. Cover lightly with vermiculite and place in a propagator or seal the container within a polythene bag until germination occurs, ensuring not to exclude light, as it aids in the process. Once seedlings are large enough to manage, thin them to 5cm (2 inches) apart and gradually adapt them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Plant outdoors once frost risks have passed, in well-drained soil and full sun. Although dill has deep roots and can tolerate dry soils, it flourishes best with consistent watering, as dry conditions may lead to premature flowering. Dill leaves are ready for harvest approximately 6 to 8 weeks after sowing. When cultivating dill for seed production, spring sowing allows the plants to grow adequately. Culinary-wise, dill enhances salads and soups and can substitute for parsley, tarragon, and mint in various sauces. The pack contains approximately 200 seeds.
