Brighten any garden space with the Thompson and Morgan Helianthus Annus Sunflower Ms Mars Seeds that burst into purple to rosy-pink blooms, each tipped in cream for a striking display. You'll love how these pollen-free flowers make a perfect choice for hay fever sufferers and are ideal for cut arrangements inside the home. With daisy-like heads up to 15cm across and edible seed kernels for a healthy snack, they're as practical as they are beautiful. Easy to grow, they'll suit both adults and children, thriving in borders, beds or containers, and flowering from July to October with regular deadheading. Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Try toasting the seed kernels for a healthy snack. Direct sow Sunflower seeds outdoors where they are to grow from April to May. Choose a position in full sun on well-drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, at a depth of one centimetre in drills spaced 45cm apart and cover the seed with its own depth of soil to exclude light. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes up to 21 days. When sunflower seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 45cm apart. Position: Full sun. Height: Up to 60cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 30cm when fully established. Delivered with growing and care instructions. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Image may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonality changes.
