Gaillardia aristata ‘Arizona Sun’ truly lives up to its name with its vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow flowers that emerge amid bushy green foliage. To cultivate gaillardia plants, use any fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. It is important to feed and water the blanket flower plants until they are fully established. Once established, gaillardia can tolerate dry soil and is reasonably drought-tolerant. Regularly deadheading faded flowers will encourage more blooms to appear. In late summer, prune back old foliage and flower stems to about 15cm (6inches) to promote new growth before the first frosts arrive.
