Supplied in a 9cm pot with growing instructions, you'll enjoy reliable flowering each March and April. Grow Forsythia plants in moist, well-drained soil in full sun or semi-shade. Feed and water Forsythia plants regularly until fully established. Container-grown plants will require annual dressing with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser and regular watering throughout the summer months. Border-grown plants will require less attention. In late spring, after flowering has finished, prune Forsythia by cutting back all flowered shoots to a healthy pair of leaves. On established Forsythia plants, cut back up to a fifth of the oldest shoots to their base, to encourage healthy new growth and improve flowering. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or other organic matter around the base of the plant after pruning.
