- Features soft grey-green foliage
- Grows up to 60cm when fully established
- Perfect for shade, borders and containers
Fern Ghost makes a wonderful addition to a shady position in the garden as it is a delightful architectural plant. It is ideal for adding contrast and shape in containers and borders, and will stand well into winter. This hardy fern is low maintenance and will unfold fresh new fronds each spring, adding interest to your garden. The popular Japanese Painted Fern sees an interesting new colour with the soft grey-green foliage of Ghost. Use this plant to break up blocks of colour in floral displays, or alternatively, use it individually to create a focal point. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost around the crown of each plant in spring. Ferns should be potted up and grown on in a shaded, frost-free location until they are large enough to plant in their final position outdoors. Before planting Japanese Painted Ferns out in borders or containers, acclimate them to outdoor conditions for seven to ten days. This should only be done when the plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed. Plant ferns in sheltered, dappled shade in fertile, moist soil that is acidic or neutral. Position: dappled shade. Height: 60cm. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. Image may be included for illustration of supply, but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
