- Thrives in the relatively mild wet UK climate
- Long cut fronds will unfurl from the crown
- Takes years to reach its ultimate height of 4m
The Dicksonia Antartica is native to Australia and therefore hardy to around -5c (23F) and will thrive in the relatively mild wet climate of the UK. You will see long cut fronds unfurl from the crown in a magical display that will add drama to damp shaded areas of your garden. Slow growing, this will add 3cm of trunk every year, taking many years to reach its ultimate height of 4m. Plant Dicksonia antarctica plants in reliably moist, rich fertile, preferably acid soil. Choose a damp sheltered position in a dappled or semi-shade. A woodland situation is ideal. Alternatively, plant Tree Ferns in containers of humus-rich soil that can be moved outdoors in summer and returned to a greenhouse or conservatory over winter. Delivered with growing and care instructions. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
