Product Information

  • Exquisite apricot-pink blooms slowly fade to warm blush-cream
  • Ideal for borders reaching up to 120cm in height
  • Supplied as tuber, suitable for cut flowers indoors and outdoors
Create a breathtaking display in borders with the Thompson and Morgan Dahlia Cafe Au Lait 1 Ziro Tuber. It erupts in soft apricot-pink blooms, gradually fading to a warm blush-cream for a gentle, ever-changing look. Blending seamlessly into any colour scheme, these blooms offer versatility for both garden beds and indoor arrangements, making them perfect for cut flowers. Easy to grow outdoors after frost or started in pots indoors, dahlia tubers thrive in sunny spots with moist, well-drained soil and reward regular feeding and deadheading with masses of flowers. As half-hardy perennials, tubers can be lifted and stored over winter for another season of impressive blooms. Plant Dahlia tuber outdoors in April after all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny position in moist, well-drained soil. Prepare the soil by digging in plenty of well-rotted manure or compost. Plant tubers at a depth of 15cm and water well. Alternatively, start tubers into growth in pots of compost in a frost-free greenhouse. Transplant them into their final positions outdoors in June. Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms. Bedding dahlias are generally grown as annuals; dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost-free position if required. They can be potted up the following spring. Product Specifications: Half-Hardy Perennial. Position: Borders. Height: Up to 120cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 60cm when fully established. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. An image may be included to illustrate the supply, but it can vary with seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
