- 4 top clubroot-resistant brassicas
- Offers heavy harvest from July to October
- Includes F1 hybrid plug plants
All four of the included varieties have been produced after 18 years of conventional breeding and are heavy croppers, due to harvest from July to October. This collection is an absolute must when growing brassicas! This collection includes Brussels Sprout ‘Crispus F1’, Cabbage ‘Kilaton F1’, Calabrese ‘Komodo F1’ and Cauliflower ‘Clapton F1’. Grow brassica plants in firm, rich fertile, well drained soil in sun or semi shade. A site that has previously cultivated beans or peas is ideal. Prepare the soil in early spring by adding plenty of well rotted farmyard manure to the soil to improve its structure and fertility. Apply lime to acid soils to reduce the acidity and lessen the risk of clubroot. Plant brassicas at a distance of 60cm (24”) apart and cover with a protective netting or fleece to prevent attack from birds and insects. Water the plants thoroughly after planting. Water brassicas regularly and do not allow them to dry out as this may impair their development. Hoe between plants regularly to prevent weeds from establishing and bring insect larvae to the surface. Fold a leaf over developing cauliflower curds to protect them from the sun. Brassicas can be harvested from August onwards, depending on the variety.
