Product Information

  • Produces flat stringless golden yellow pods up to 180cm tall
  • Delivered with growing and care instructions for easy sowing
  • Pack contains approximately 40 seeds
Transform your garden with the Thompson and Morgan Climbing Bean Goldfield Seeds. Experience the joy of cultivating French Beans in your garden. The 'Goldfield' climbing variety yields flat, fleshy, stringless, golden-yellow pods that are both delicious and easy to grow. For optimal results, consider companion planting with Nasturtiums to naturally deter aphids from your crop. Begin by sowing climbing bean seeds indoors from mid-April for later transplanting, or directly sow outdoors between late May and July. When starting indoors, plant seeds 2cm deep in 7.5cm pots or trays filled with free-draining seed compost. Keep the seeds in a propagator or a sealed container inside a plastic bag at a temperature of 12-25°C until germination, which takes about 7-10 days. Ensure they receive light during this period to aid germination. Once germinated, maintain cooler conditions until the risk of frost has passed and the plants are robust enough for transplanting. Gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting in rich, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, providing protection from strong winds. Alternatively, you can sow directly outdoors once the soil has warmed, placing two seeds at each station, 5cm deep and 23cm apart. Plant climbing beans in rows spaced 60cm apart, or consider a wigwam structure if space is limited. Remember that climbing beans will need support from garden canes, strings, or netting set up at the time of planting. With a harvest period from July to October, you will be rewarded with an abundant crop. The pack contains approximately 40 seeds.
