Product Information

  • Velvety red blooms with dark purple anthers
  • Compact, perfect for containers or borders
  • Flowers May to October, Pruning Group 3
Clematis 'Nubia' is a stunning variety known for its velvety, bright red blooms and dark purple anthers. This free-flowering plant has a neat, compact habit, making it ideal for growing in patio containers, or for training onto an obelisk, fence, or wall. 'Nubia' also looks great in borders, providing a vibrant display of colour throughout the summer months. This clematis belongs to pruning group 3. It's best to pot up clematis plants and allow them to grow until they are large enough to be planted in their final locations. When planting clematis, choose a spot that receives full sun or partial shade, and ensure the soil is moist, fertile, and well-drained. Plant it deeply, positioning the top of the root ball about 7.5cm (3inches) below the soil surface to encourage new shoots to develop from the base. Clematis do not thrive in soils that are overly wet or dry. You can improve poor soil conditions by adding well-rotted manure or garden compost. If you're growing clematis in patio containers, use a soil-based compost such as John Innes No.3. Support your clematis with a trellis, wires, or a freestanding climbing frame. The flowering period for Clematis 'Nubia' is from May to October. Plants are delivered with growing and care instructions. Please note that the images provided are for guidance regarding expected growth. Results may vary due to different growing conditions, and images may reflect seasonal changes, such as deciduous plants losing their leaves in colder months.
