This is a beautiful fast-growing climbing vine that produces masses of satin-pink ruffled flowers with a lovely vanilla scent. It has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit and is a favourite in many gardens and outdoor spaces, usually found trained over fences and walls. The Montana Mayleen likes to be planted in well-drained soil with a preference for chalkiness. The top of the root ball needs to be planted 8cm below the soil surface. Ideally, the roots and base of this plant need to be kept in the shade, and you need mulch around the roots in late winter to ensure that it is healthy for next year.
