Product Information

  • Grows up to 300cm tall and spreads up to 100cm
  • Thrives in full sun or semi shade
  • Produces single, purple-blue flowers with creamy yellow anthers
Thompson and Morgan Clematis Fujimusume deserves a prominent position where its dramatic blooms can be fully appreciated. Flowering from June to July, this early large-flowered variety bears single, purple-blue flowers with creamy yellow anthers, followed by attractive golden seed heads that add interest well into autumn. Robust yet relatively compact, Thompson and Morgan Clematis Fujimusume is a spectacular variety that is ideal for growing against walls and fences or planted in a large patio container. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade when growing Thompson and Morgan Clematis Fujimusume and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, positioning the root ball at a depth of 7.5cm below soil level, in order to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry; however, these conditions can be improved with the addition of plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost. If growing in containers, use a good quality soil-based compost. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as a trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame. Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Thompson and Morgan Clematis Fujimusume flowers in summer on new stems developed from the previous year’s growth. Pruning of Group Two clematis should be undertaken in spring, before active growth begins, by removing any damaged or dead stems entirely before cutting back the remaining stems to a healthy pair of buds. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in spring, in order to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture. Ideal For: Patios, Walls and Fences, Cottage Gardens, Scented Gardens Hardiness: Hardy Position In: Sun or Semi-Shade Height: Up to 300cm Spread: Up to 100cm.
