Product Information

  • Packet contains approximately100 seeds for compact growth
  • Flowering period lasts from May to September each year
  • Edible petals add peppery flavour and vibrant colour
Transform your garden with the Thompson & Morgan Calendula Nana Candyman Yellow 100 Seeds Packet. It stands out as the most prolific flowering and finest double Pot Marigold grown in trials. The daisy-like, large, luminous blooms adorn sturdy, dwarf, multi-branching plants, adding vibrant sunshine yellow to summer borders and patio pots. These fabulous flowers also serve well as cut flowers. Notably, some parts of the flowers are edible, offering a light peppery flavour that can enhance breads with a touch of colour. Furthermore, they can be used as a substitute for saffron when colouring rice dishes. Direct sow calendula seeds outdoors between April and May in a well-drained, sunny position, ensuring the soil has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly at a depth of 1cm in drills spaced 30cm apart, covering them lightly with soil to block out light. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells. Germination typically takes 5 to 10 days. When the seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 30cm apart. Alternatively, sow indoors from March to April at a temperature between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius. After transplanting and allowing them to grow in cooler conditions, they will become suitable for outdoor planting. For winter or early spring flowering, sow calendula in late summer or early autumn and cultivate in a cool greenhouse or conservatory. Included are growing and care instructions. Images are for guidance on expected results at maturity, and results may vary with different growing conditions. Seasonal variations may affect supplied images.
